Privacy Policy

VisionGuard · Last updated 17 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how VisionGuard (“VisionGuard”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal data when you use our private camera-monitoring service. We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Finnish law.

1. Data controller

The controller responsible for your personal data is:

  • VisionGuard
  • Data protection contact: [email protected]

2. What we collect

We limit collection to what the service needs to run:

  • Account data — the name and email address you provide when requesting access, and credentials used to sign in.
  • Technical data — IP address, device and browser type, and security logs generated when you connect.
  • Camera streams — video is relayed to you over an encrypted channel. We do not retain your footage beyond the retention window you configure, and we do not access stream content for our own purposes.

3. Why we process it, and our legal basis

  • To provide the service — performance of a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To keep the service secure — our legitimate interest in preventing abuse and unauthorised access (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • To meet legal obligations — where the law requires it (Art. 6(1)(c)).

4. Retention

Account data is kept for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Recordings are retained only for the window you set and are then deleted. Security logs are kept for a limited period and then discarded.

5. Sharing and subprocessors

We do not sell personal data. We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers (hosting, content delivery) that process data strictly on our instructions under a data processing agreement. A current list is available on request.

6. International transfers

Our infrastructure is operated within the European Union. Where any transfer outside the EU/EEA is necessary, it is carried out under appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased;
  • restrict or object to processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these, contact [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — in Finland, the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto).

8. Security

Streams travel over an encrypted channel — both from your cameras to us and from us to you — and recordings sit encrypted on disk. We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, and access to systems is limited on a need-to-know basis.

9. Cookies

We use only the strictly necessary cookies required to keep you signed in and to protect forms against automated abuse. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
